William H. Sheavly, CFP®
William H. Sheavly, CFP® is the President and Chief Investment Officer as well as an Investment Advisor Representative of the Sheavly Financial Group, Inc. He began his career with Investors Diversified Services (IDS) in 1982 (it then became IDS/American Express and is now Ameriprise Financial). While at IDS, Bill won numerous awards for his work and was a member of the IDS Silver Team. In 1989, Bill was named the Nauheim Merit Scholar from the College for Financial Planning to pursue the coveted CFP® designation which he achieved in 1989. After nine years at IDS, Bill went to work for Dominion Investment Banking for one year before striking out on his own in 1990.
The CFP® certification is a voluntary certification; no federal or state law or regulation requires financial planners to hold CFP® certification. It is recognized in the United States and a number of other countries for its (1) high standard of professional education; (2) stringent code of conduct and standards of practice; and (3) ethical requirements that govern professional engagements with clients.
Bill has been married for 33 years and has lived in Virginia Beach since 1990. He enjoys reading and is an avid stamp collector and gardener. He and his wife, Seba, travel extensively all over the world. He is also acting president of the 69th Infantry Next Generation Group and a published author on his father’s experiences during World War II. Bill is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond.
